When faced with a room with pre-existing ( a rectangular room with parallel surfaces) we needed to address absorption in a creative way, and yet keep the room alive enough to be musical. What we ended up doing here was treating the walls with slats and grooves and utilizing absorption behind the slats. These slats were not afixed so firmly that they wouldn’t give and move and be able to accept the excitement delivered by low frequencies.
We then had to deal with the corners we could we built bass trap absorbers in a decorative way as to not distract but enhhance the rooms look.
When this room was done and after designing custom shaped absorbers for the ceiling (that would thus break up some parallel surfaces floor to ceiling) with the multitude of different angles, we layed an oriental rug on the floor and the room became very musical and pleasing design. the end result was a beautiful sounding room.
Challenges do arise from time to time but that is nothing that has ever stopped us
There is nothing like a room that there is not a single parallel surface.

Vocal booths can be a challenge as you want them to sound natural and not like you are singing into a
mattress. You also want them to have a vibe that can easily be controlled by lighting.
When designing a control room you cant have standing waves due to parallel walls.
Iso booths should have a sound that enhances what you put in there,
